The Society is registered with the Australian Securities Commission as a Company Limited by Guarantee. Its objectives are to:
- Distinguish and consolidate the profession of Coal Preparation Engineering.
- Improve the technical standards of Coal Preparation Engineers.
- Provide a forum for the free and full exchange of ideas on all matters pertaining to the science and practice of coal preparation through -
- conducting technical meetings
- circulating technical literature
- conducting courses in coal preparation.
Each State Branch operates its own technical and social activities, with the Australian Society being responsible for matters of national interest.
The only requirement for membership of the Society is an interest in the field.
