NSW ADVANCED COAL PREPARATION COURSE
The Advanced Coal Preparation Course is held once a year in NSW. The course, which has been running for over twenty years, will provide attendees with a detailed understanding of the science and practice of coal preparation. Topics will progress from coal characterisation and lease evaluation through to process design, plant management and materials handling with an emphasis on current practice. The various topics will be presented by speakers selected for their specialised knowledge and communication skills, supported by the resident course director.
The course has been run annually since the mid-1970's and would normally attract a full quota of participants.
Lecturers are drawn from a comprehensive panel of experienced industry experts.
Course participants come from a diverse range of backgrounds and have included:
- Metallurgists and Process engineers
- Plant Managers, Process managers, Plant supervisors and operators
- Coal Technologists, Chemists and Laboratory technicians
- Equipment suppliers
- Consultants, Engineers and Government employees
- Technical Management and Marketing personnel
The NSW venue is the Kurri Kurri Conference Centre on the Kurri TAFE campus. The course is residential and includes evening tutorials and project work groups. Participants are therefore expected to live-in at the Centre for the full duration of the course (1 week).
Newcastle airport is approximately 45mins to 1 hour from Kurri Kurri. When you book flights, please inform the Secretariat and they will email this info to all attendees so that you may share. Hire cars are also available from the airport. Taxi fare is approximately $170 each way.
The room numbers at Kurri Kurri Conference Centre are not yet available. The numbers will be emailed to all registered attendees when we have them.
Transport during the course will not be required.
A laptop computer will be an advantage, but is not compulsory. Those who have them should bring them.
Note: Safety boots, hard hat, clear safety glasses and workwear with reflective stripes will be required for the site visits. Safety hats, glasses and reflective vests will be available for those flying to attend the course.
Registration will be limited to applicants who have completed the Society's General Coal Preparation Course or who, in the opinion of the course director, have equivalent experience.
