THREE DAY RESIDENTIAL GENERAL COAL PREPARATION COURSE
The QLD Branch of the Australian Coal Preparation Society holds several General Coal Preparation Courses each year. These are generally held in Rockhampton, with one in October/November in Brisbane. Details of Course fees will be provided on the Courses and Events page for the applicable course. Fees include a copy of the Society's general textbook, “The Principles of Coal Preparation”, as well as meals and accommodation. The course is suitable for plant operators and maintenance personnel, technical and other engineering staff, equipment suppliers and personnel new to the industry requiring a broad appreciation of coal preparation.
The content is very much practically orientated with emphasis on elementary skill-based development, including worked calculations, sampling, size analysis and elementary unit operations. The lecture syllabus includes coal geology, mining methods, sampling and analysis, physical properties of coal, coal washability, principles of separation, tutorials, classification, gravity separation process, fine coal beneficiation, dewatering and plant practice.
Lecturers of considerable experience in the above fields are drawn from the industry at large. The course is organized by the Course Director. Interested parties requiring further details should contact the Secretariat on 07 31669309, fax 02 49264902 or acpsqld@acps.com.au. Registration forms via the Society website open approx. 6 weeks prior to the commencement of the course.
